BLAIR COUNTY TEA PARTY
Next meeting: Tuesday September 26, 2017 at 7 PM.
The Bavarian Hall (downstairs)
112 South 13th Street
Altoona, PA 16602
Speaker: Ron Boltz
Topic: School Property Tax Elimination
Are your property taxes too high? Are you concerned that property taxes increase too frequently? Do you believe it is wrong that property taxes have the power to leave people homeless? If you answered affirmatively to any of these questions, please consider attending the Blair County Tea Party's next meeting to hear
Ron Boltz, President of the PA Liberty Alliance.
Ron will speak about the Property Tax Independence Act. This bill, introduced as House Bill and Senate Bill 76 (HB/SB-76), is described by the PA Liberty Alliance as a "citizen-initiated law which will eliminate property tax funding of schools and replace it with a fairer, broad-based tax that preserves our current school funding levels and preserves our property rights." The PA Liberty Alliance goes on to point out that foreclosures in Blair County are up 45% in the last 4 years and that re-assessment has meant higher taxes for many residents.
All Blair County residents are encouraged to take the opportunity to learn about one prominent solution to rising property taxes. Attendees are invited to bring their questions. This event is free and open to the public.
Please remember to renew your membership for 2017!
